One of Longwood’s core values is our commitment to growth and excellence, through personal and professional development. We’re happy to announce that Children’s’ Hospital Operations Manager Tracy Myers has completed Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Instructor Certification program from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) (www.crisisprevention.com
). CPI’s program focuses on the prevention of disruptive behavior using effective non-verbal, verbal, and physical strategies that are designed to be “nonharmful, noninvasive, and maintain the individual’s dignity.”
Tracy is also certified to teach MOAB® Training International’s “Management of Aggressive Behavior” program ( www.moabtraining.com
) which teaches participants “how to protect themselves from injury, and at the same time, control individuals without causing them harm.”
Tracy shares his knowledge and practical experience (as a Special Police Officer, Armed Nuclear Security Officer, and Emergency Medical Technician) as an instructor in Longwood’s In-Service Training Program, preparing new employees to deescalate conflict and providing guidelines for patient restraints. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention classes will be introduced to the Children’s Hospital community in the coming months to help contribute to a safer work place through Risk Reduction and Crisis Intervention.
Tracy has also taken advantage of professional development opportunities as a member of A.S.I.S. International (www.asisonline.org
) and the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (www.iahss.org
) and is currently pursuing the Certified Healthcare Professional Administrator designation.
Congratulations Tracy, and thank you for leading by example!
