Newbury College celebrated Mother’s Day by graduating a class of 180 students. As is tradition, Longwood Security’s Honor Guard, followed by The Boston Police Gaelic Society Drummers and Pipers, led the Procession down Fisher Avenue from the Student Center to the venue behind the Academic Center. This year’s graduating class represented 10 countries.

The Ceremony was declared open by Vice President of Student Affairs Paul Martin. The day had added reverence as outgoing President Hannah McCarthy received an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities.  Executive Vice President Joseph L. Chillo was welcomed as Newbury College’s 5th President.  President McCarthy enters retirement from Newbury College after 6 years of dedication, bringing the college to a new and exciting level.

We also want to thank all who helped make this tradition successful, including Faculty and Staff, who unselfishly give of themselves throughout the year to make this day happen. We are also thankful for the teams behind the scenes from Facilities (Aramark) to the Dining Operations (Sodexho) and last but not least the Campus Safety team from Longwood Security and Paul Noonan, Director Campus Safety, who together each year provide a safe and secure environment for all.
