In a bit of a role reversal, Newbury College recently served Longwood Security for a few hours. Instead of safety and security, though, Newbury College treated Longwood Security’s Training Team and Corporate Support Staff to a four-course dinner in the Weltman Dining Room on April 23, 2014. The Training Team provides the hands-on core training classes required of every new officer hired by Longwood Security, ensuring all Longwood Security officers are equipped with the skills and knowledge to handle a variety of challenging situations.

The core training is another example of how Longwood Security brings an unparalleled standard of excellence to the security service field. The core training consists of 32 hours of classroom sessions, covering topics such as Patrol Procedures, Report Writing, Customer Service, First Aid/CPR, and Management of Aggressive Behavior, just to name a few. Fortunately, the Training Team closed the manuals for a brief period and enjoyed a special evening at Newbury College's restaurant.

The Roger A. Saunders School of Hotel & Restaurant Management at Newbury College features an on-campus restaurant, run by students working under our chef instructors to prepare and serve meals. While Longwood Security Staff enjoyed a unique fine dining experience in the beautifully appointed Lois and David Weltman Dining Room, students had the opportunity to apply their culinary and hospitality training, and gain relevant experience in an active restaurant environment.

In attendance for Longwood Security were the following:

Jack Connelly—President
Peter Scott Vice President—Community & Public Affairs
Tim Ring Operations Manager—East Boston Neighborhood Health Center
Dan Amorim Operations Manager—Berklee College of Music
Jeff Edmiston—Vice President Operations
Mark Norton—Purchasing Manager
Detori Washington Operations Manager—Newbury College
Troy Santariasci Superintendent—Community Service Division
Herb Aponte Operations Manager—Community Service Division
Jennie Donahue—Senior Support Staff
Melissa Palmieri—Director of Human Resources
Frank Freedman—IS Development & Data Base Administrator

Thank you Newbury College, chef instructors, and students for a great night. The food was delicious.
