Job Description:
As a Longwood Special Police Officer you'll be part of the Community Services Division, an elite, well-respected team of highly trained and motivated officers.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years old
  • Must have a clean Criminal Record
  • Must possess valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms (LTC) Class “A”
  • Must have completed a Boston Police Department approved 160 hour SPO training program.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of law enforcement practices and procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Skill in applying laws, rules and regulations.
  • Be able to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime shifts as required – overtime is required
  • Ability to communicate and give oral instructions, in English, fluently, in a precise, understandable manner
  • The ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
  • The ability to use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to give written instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
  • Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes, and symbols.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with others.
  • Ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful and emergency situations.
  • Ability to make decisions and act quickly in dangerous or emergency situations.
  • Ability to prepare general reports.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to adapt to varying work situations and environmental conditions
  • Ability to work alone at remote locations and in the dark.
